After thanking the program committee and the USENIX staff, co-chairs Geoffrey M. Voelker and Alec Wolman announced the Best Paper awards: “Satori, Enlightened Page Sharing” by Grzegorz Miłoś, Derek G. Murray, Steven Hand, and Michael A. Fetterman, and “Tolerating File-System Mistakes with EnvyFS,” by Lakshmi N. Bairavasundaram, Swaminathan Sundararaman, Andrea C. Arpaci-Dusseau, and Remzi H. Arpaci-Dusseau. Next, Alva Couch, Secretary of the USENIX Board of Directors, presented the Software Tools User Group Award to JeanLoup Gailly and Mark Adler for their work on file compression (see http://www.usenix.org/about/stug.html for details). Gailly said, “I feel I have received more from the OS community than I gave,” and Adler then said “Ditto,” in a couple of the shortest acceptance speeches ever.
